AIPG Colorado Section 2017 Annual Dinner and Student Networking Session

January 20th, 5:30pm - 8:30pm SpringHill Suites Marriott near Auraria Campus

We hope you can join us for an exciting evening and great food at the 2017 Annual Dinner. The festivities will be held on Friday, January 20, 2017 at the Spring Hill Suites Marriott, located in the northeast corner of the Auraria Campus, downtown Denver. Check-in will begin at 6:30 , and the dinner will officially kickoff at 7:00 and last to 8:30 . Parking for attendees is readily available for a nominal fee. 

Prior to the dinner a student mentoring session will also be held. CO-Section volunteers representing mining, oil and gas, environmental geology, hydrology, and engineering geology will be present to discuss their various experiences with the students. In addition, graduate school professors from UNC, CSU, CSM, and UCD will be in attendance to present their schools’ earth science programs; AIPG National will also be attending. All students are encouraged to attend the mentoring session, although student registration for the dinner will be limited and restricted to AIPG Student Chapter members only. Valet parking for the mentors will be provided at the Marriott at no charge. In addition, during the mentoring session the mentors’ spouses will be provided with a free bruschetta bar, and cash bar, in a lovely mezzanine area. 

Dinner Talk: To wrap-up the evening, Dr. Kackstaetter of Metro State University will discuss his latest collaborative GSA field guide with Dr. Echohawk outlining the exciting Front Range geology between Denver and the kimberlite sites along the Colorado-Wyoming border. The guidebook will also be available for sale at the close of the evening.

Dinner Reservations: Registration for the dinner will be open to COAIPG professional members through November. The cost for the dinner is $35, and the meal choices are eggplant parmesan or chicken marsala (dessert is included), along with a cash bar. Upon check-in, each attendee will be provided their appropriate color coded meal card. For those attending the dinner, please notify Tom Van Arsdale at tomgvanarsdale@gmail.com of your meal choice, and send your check or money order to the Section’s Treasurer: Mark Mathisen, Roscoe Postle Associates, 143 Union Blvd., Ste. 505, Lakewood CO 80228. If a professional member would like to contribute extra funds to help offset the cost of the students’ meal cost, please feel free to do so. Thank you!

Student Registration for the dinner will open beginning December 5th. The student cost will be $25. Students will first need to contact Tom Van Arsdale to ascertain if space is available for the dinner and to place their meal choice order. If space is available, then a $25 check or money order will need to be sent to the Section’s Treasurer. Student registration will close onJanuary 4, 2017.
